- Extrusion/pelletisation of either PI or PCR materials to produce pellets. This provides both filtration and homogenisation of the product.
- Batch Solid State Polymerisation (SSP) to increase the molecular weight (Intrinsic Viscosity, IV). This affords better processing characteristics and final product properties e.g. improved melt strength and toughness. It also enables a plant to run more efficiently as it allows the operator to use more of their own recycle directly.
- Crystallisation to aid feeding - avoiding sticking issues.
- Use of the SSP process to remove VOCs e.g. demonstrated by their EFSA submission and approval EC RECYCOO4. This is not limited to products intended for the food industry. The "deep cleaning" process can be applied to other applications where the migration of unwanted substances can cause a problem.
